During summer, chances are your kids weren’t all home at once. If one was at the pool, the other was on his PS4. If one was streaming Netflix, the other was at a baseball game. But now that school is back in session, all the students in your household will need to do homework in the evenings and weekends so if you don’t have enough bandwidth to cover their devices, it won’t be long before you hear their complaints.
How much bandwidth do I need?
Since your kids will be on multiple laptops or tablets, you’ll need to figure out how they’ll be using the Internet. Even if they aren’t streaming videos (which eats up a ton of bandwidth), they may be sharing or downloading class files that require a higher speed. If they’re just doing research on the web, emailing, or taking a break to check social media, you won’t need much.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that you’ll want enough bandwidth to accommodate times when the most people are using the most devices at once. When your college student comes home every other weekend, they will use some of the bandwidth your high schooler is used to having to herself. And remember, your gamers will still find time to play games during the school year. Make sure there’s enough bandwidth to go around and everyone will be happy.
Ask Your HTC Representative if Your Wi-Fi is Fast Enough
When your kids’ grades rely on fast Internet speed, you can’t afford a slow connection. The higher the bandwidth, the more devices you’ll be able to connect so if you notice lagging devices when everyone is home, call HTC. We’ll be happy to help you figure out the best solution to help the students in your home succeed.
