Gallagher’s Restaurant
In 2003, John and Susie Gallagher purchased a 19th century empty building on West Mill St. in Waterloo with visions of its amazing potential. They not only wanted to restore it so Monroe County residents could appreciate its history, but they also wanted to turn it into a destination restaurant where friends and family could enjoy delicious food and cold drinks. With the help of their five sons, nephews, brothers-in-law and others, they exposed much of the original brick, restored a century-old-bar, and added beautiful woodwork to create six unique dining areas.
Since the restaurant opened, customers have been raving about their award-winning fried chicken, delicious burgers, and a variety of other menu items to enjoy for lunch and dinner.
In the past few months since dining establishments in Illinois have closed due to Covid-19, Gallagher’s has continued to provide curbside service for hungry residents. Their online ordering system allows customers to conveniently choose favorite menu items, pay for their food, and describe their vehicle so Gallagher’s staff knows how to find them when they arrive.
